Paid SEMBRAR Internship

Project SEMBRAR funded by the USDA, is now accepting applications for a

3-week paid experiential learning project(s) with a focus on urban agriculture and urban ecology. Please fill out the google from below if you are interested.

Dates: June 17th - July 9th (Monday - Friday)

Times: 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Group will not meet on June 21st and July 4th.

Week 1

Introduction to the Program and Service Based Learning with Connected Chef. Topics covered: Food Justice, Food Sovereignty, Indigenous knowledge of plants and seeds, aquaponics, hydroponics, urban ecosystems.

Week 2

Oko Farms - Introduction to Aquaponics and the Nitrogen Cycle + Water Quality, Aquaponics Hardware + Systems, Design + Fish Cultivation, Aquaponics Management and Best Practices

Week 3

Site visits to urban farms in Brooklyn and Queens with City Growers. Curriculum includes, integrated pest management, urban ecology, pollinators, apiculture, identifying native plants and a culiminating research project and poster presentation
